Small explosion injuries man slightly cont’d
“The occupant was using spray-in foam insulation. It was aerosol-based, and once it got close to the pilot light, it ignited the flammable material and caused a bit of an explosion,” Fire Chief Pat McIsaac said during an interview with the Daily News.
McIsaac says the explosion caused a small fire which was out by the time fire personnel arrived on the scene.
Festival of Trees coming up fast
The annual Battlefords Union Hospital Foundation Festival of Trees takes place Nov. 26th-28 at the Gold Ridge Centre this year.
The three-day fundraiser for the BUHF will be kicked off Thursday, Nov. 26 with Ladies Night.
The Fire and Ice Ball evening takes place Friday, Nov. 27.
Both these events feature live entertainment and savoury food. The Festival of Trees also features a Carnival and Bazaar which is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Children under six years of age are free.
This year, SaskEnergy, the BUHF Festival of Trees North Pole sponsor, is celebrating its 11th anniversary of being corporately involved with the Festival.
This year, there will be a new feature at the North Pole -- Iced Treasures, which will feature specially decorated cakes from local cake artists.
Visitors at the North Pole can view a wide variety of four-foot artificial trees decorated by local students. The Gingerbread Village will also be on display.
The items on display will be sold by silent auction, with a set starting price.
The Committee Chairs of the Carnival & Bazaar, on Saturday, Nov. 28, are excited with the preparations taking place for this event and are confident that all visitors will be completely entertained.
There will be the viewing of the beautifully decorated items, live entertainment all day, raffle tables, and Santa’s Sweet Shoppe for a lunch of beef-on-a-bun, hotdogs and Christmas goodies as well as Santa’s Bake Shoppe for all your holiday baking treats.
Children will be equally entertained with activities such as Christmas cookie decorating, pictures with Santa, outdoor activities such as horse-sleigh rides, as well as Santa’s Gift Shoppe for holiday shopping. Closing ceremonies will take place on Saturday from approximately 7 – 8 p.m.
